Much of the jewelry is about feathers. Below is an eagle feather I found under a nest. To find an eagle feather is a rare gift. Eagle Head Bracelet - The symbol of the Eagle is a one of spiritual freedom and the Great Spirit. It represents the never ending connection that the human spirit has with divine spirit. Eagle Feather Fan Charm - The feather fan is usually made from the full wing or tail of a particular bird, such as the turkey, eagle, hawk, owl, heron, & even the tiny hummingbird. Full fans are very special and are used in ceremony for healing & blessing. The Native American Church uses fans in their prayer meetings and social dancers have fans for powwows. The little hummingbird maybe small, but its feathers are considered to be very powerful doctoring tools in the hands of a medicine person. Animal Totem Pendant - Shields were made from the hides of different animals like buffalo, elk, & deer. They were used for protection from the enemies weapons. Upon the shield the maker would paint designs and embellishments like horse hair, beads, shells, etc. Everything on the shield had a meaning and was chosen very carefully. Sometimes the shield was made to honor a personal dream or vision and in making the shield the vision was encouraged to manifest. Some shields were made for the tribe or a special society within the tribe. Often a shield honored animals and there spiritual powers. The Eagle was often placed in the East and represented Spirit and clear vision. The Wolf was in the South and was a pathfinder, teacher, & hunter. The Bear was in the West representing the place of introspection and the healer. The Buffalo, life giver, was in the North as a symbol of abundance, wisdom, & our ancestors. Medicine Bag Earrings - Medicine bags were worn by all indigenous peoples. They were made from hide & contained anything that the individual thought was empowering or protective. They could contain herbs, stones, beads, hair, holy soil,etc. Everything in the bag had significance to its owner. Some items may have been used for their medicinal value such as an herb, and some for their esoteric value in prayer & ceremony. It was considered disrespectful to ask what was in someone's medicine bag as that knowledge was

Simply Feather Earrings - The feather is perhaps the primary symbol of the Native Americans. Dreamcatcher Earrings - The legend of the Dreamcatcher is found among many of the North American tribes. The dreamcatcher looks like a spider web. The web is woven out of sinew inside a red willow branch that has bent into a circle. A hole is left in the middle of the net with a feather attached by the hole. It is hung above a child's bed (or anyone) to insure that the good dreams slip through the hole in the net and slide down the feather into the mind..
